What Editors Do

The Editorial Experience

SJOLT editors play a central role in producing rigorous, high-quality legal scholarship. As an editor, you'll work closely with authors and senior editors to shape submitted articles from first draft to final publication.

  • Review and provide substantive feedback on submitted manuscripts
  • Fact-check citations and ensure Bluebook compliance
  • Collaborate with the Editor in Chief on volume planning
  • Participate in editorial board meetings and discussions
  • Help recruit authors and promote the journal on campus
  • Build skills in legal writing, analysis, and editing
